Dana + Shawn

Jayme BasilComment

Dana’s dad mentioned in his speech (not seen) how once you become friends with his daughter, you are friends for life. That was incredibly evident in all the family and friends witnessing the nuptials that day; but also, I am honored to say I’ve known the bride since we were in grade school! Once she had a date and venue picked out, she promptly came to me to make sure I could capture her big day. I was stoked then, but after getting to know the groom and how happy they make one another, I am even more ecstatic for my old friend. Congratulations to Dana and Shawn for finding that kind of love that’s built to last. I hope you don’t mind, but I snuck a little surprise in at the end.

Tara + Tim

Jayme BasilComment

While creating the cinematic for Tim and Tara, I first was looking for the perfect music to accompany their love story. I came across this song with the title, “Father’s Land.” PERFECT! There could not be a better song with a better title for this couple. The reason they got married in Hilton Head was because being there allows Tara to feel closer to her father, who unfortunately passed a few years back. And even though he couldn’t be there in the flesh on the day of, you can tell he is strongly there in spirit and would whole-heartily approve of the marriage that took place on this absolutely beautiful day. Tim and Tara are perfect together. No question. Just watch and see why.

These two. My goodness. One of the sweetest couples I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with! They even donated to my non-profit, Fureverhome, in lieu of party favors! I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am for that gesture. You can tell just by watching their cinematic how kind they are. It’s in their smiles. It’s in the way they look at each other. They met seven years ago and made it official at their Alma Mater surrounded by their family, friends, and a few of Colleen’s precious students. Congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs! Madison + Kerry

I think Madi’s maid of honor put it best in her speech: Madison is a real life Disney princess and she has finally found her forever prince. You don’t get to live out your own fairy tale very often, but these two have found theirs and are simply perfect together! They are both the types of people who deserve to find that kind of happiness as they are so sweet, especially together. Annamarie + Alex

Jayme BasilComment

Falling in love with their childhood sweethearts just seems to be how the Rineharts roll. I got to film Alex’s sister’s wedding a few years back and could not have been more excited to capture Alex and Rie’s love story. They were both in my younger brother’s class at St. Ursula Villa and it’s so incredible to see them so in love today. While they did meet and have their first kiss together in grade school, they split ways during high school and most of college. Until finally, as fate would have it, they ran into each other while attending OSU. Alex knew he had to ask Annamarie out again and on their first date as adults, Alex just knew: “not only were you my first kiss, but you were going to be my last.” The new Mr. and Mrs. Rinehart exchanged vows at Rhinegeist Brewery in OTR, Cincinnati. Kimberly + Christopher

Jayme BasilComment

Do you believe in love at first swipe? Well, that's what happened when Kimmy met Chris! They matched on Tinder and within an hour decided to meet in person on a date. Both of them realized after just this first date that they were meant to wed and spend eternity together. Honestly, they tell the story way better in their personal vows spoken during the ceremony and sprinkled throughout their wedding cinematic. Chris is a pilot, which inspired their travel theme across the decor at the ceremony and reception. Everything went wonderfully and was visually and emotionally beautiful. Maria + Adam

Jayme BasilComment

Maria and Adam had quite the celebration at the lovely Monastery Event Center! The wedding was in Mt Adams, so it was the perfect opportunity to get "Maria and Adam" customized in the Mt. Adams look, which is featured in this cinematic. You can really tell that these two are meant for each other, as they like all the same things, are both in the Military (Maria is in the Air Force and Adam is in the Marines), and both show their love in very similar ways. Together, they make a badass, stoic, beautiful couple. The whole day went off without any major hitches and that's in due part to their amazing families and these awesome vendors:

We. Are. So. Excited! Leslie is a long-time family friend of Greg's and we just could not be happier for her now that she's married the man of her dreams. The whole day was full of happy tears, laughter, and booty shakin'. I loved the nods to the holiday, as their wedding took place on the 5th of May. They had taco socks, sombreros, and the fiesta vida spirit! Greg and I had an absolute blast spending the day with the newlyweds and their families and look forward to seeing them at Norton + Humphrey + Durakis family parties. Andrea + K.C.

Jayme BasilComment

This wedding was an absolute blast to be a part of and I am so honored to have been! It was hard to find a single moment (outside of the ceremony and first look) where someone wasn't goofing off, getting giddy, or dancing. I actually knew the groom as a kid. He was and is always the nicest guy. I was hired by Andrea's family and — meeting her on the day of her wedding — I could not see a better fit for KC. She is also the sweetest and kindest! They simply seem to bring out the absolute best in one another and I think that definitely comes across in their cinematic. A neat wedding tradition they have in their family is that, rather than flower centerpieces, they have cakes at each table! The newlyweds went to each table, greeted their guests, and cut the first slice. It was very cute and made for a beautiful and delicious table arrangement. And then, of course, this group got wild on the dance floor. Loved every minute of it. Congrats the the new Mr and Mrs McCluskey!

Elizabeth + Adam

Jayme BasilComment

I film a lot of weddings in Cincinnati, as it's where I live. I've actually lived here my entire life, give or take several years. It's a fairly big city, but it always finds a way to feel much smaller. "Where did you go to high school" is a very popular question around these parts as it helps us figure out who we know that you might know. But at Elizabeth and Adam's wedding, when my brothers' mom showed up, I learned just how small Cincinnati is. Turns out Adam and I are distantly related through marriages, and now Elizabeth, too. And honestly, I couldn't be happier for the new relatives! They have such a happy vibe about them. Adam and Elizabeth are both so easy-going and shared giggles the entire day. They met one another when Adam took a tennis class in college and the professor, Elizabeth, caught his eye. Four years later and she's now his Mrs! Congrats congrats to the newlyweds!

Kolbi + Josh

Jayme BasilComment

Greg and I absolutely loved our time with Kolbi and Josh! They are both such great and kind-hearted people with an incredible love story. You learn from their cinematic that they met in Africa while helping build a school for a community there. What a fantastic place to find your better half. You can also easily learn from the cinematic that their love is absolutely palpable; as we start it off with a moving "first look," listen to the beautiful vows they wrote for one another from the heart, and read the love note Josh had written on the cocktail napkin at their reception. There were actually several love notes on different napkins and I really hope Josh never stops writing them for Kolbi. I'm sure he won't. Their love is as grand as the gestures they make for one another, like driving 10 hours spontaneously to get permission to marry Kolbi. Congratulations to these wunderlust newlyweds. I just can't with this couple. They are simply too cute and smitten for the world to handle! Seriously, every time I instructed them to look at each other instead of the camera, they couldn't last two seconds before diving in for a smooch. This is the kind of love I wish for everyone. A love that has strong similarities in interests (for example: they are both pharmacists) and that can stand the test of time and distance (they literally just graduated from pharmacy schools two hours away from one another). I was lucky enough to meet this couple over two years ago at a bridal expo and it wasn't long after that they decided to book me. Two years out! This diligent planning lead to such a beautiful wedding celebrating such a loving couple. Here's who else they hired to help make this day a success:

Greg's best friend's cousin, Emily, was to get married on St. Patricks Day! She and her now husband, Ryan, journeyed from Virginia to wed in the city Emily grew up. She got ready in her parents' house, which had beautiful flowers and greenery everywhere as her mother is a florist who did the flowers for the wedding. I'm honored to have gotten to capture all the beautiful details and the lovely people who came to celebrate their union. I especially love the little details that hinted at the Irish of it all. May their luck carry on throughout their marriage!

Hannah + Abram

Jayme BasilComment

Just before the new year rang in, Hannah's grandmother pointed out she hadn't booked a videographer for her wedding day. Hannah then talked this over with her friend and bridesmaid, Jessica, who had already booked Sweet Basil for her September 2018 wedding. Long story short, Hannah is one lucky duck that we weren't booked on her wedding day just a week out. And we feel just as lucky that we got to experience their wedding day with them. You can clearly see in Abram's eye's and Hannah's smile just how much these two love each other. After hearing the outstanding marriage advice given to the newlyweds by Hannah's long-time family friend, I knew I had to use it in the cinematic for all to hear. Everyone needs to be reminded of this advice every now and then. I hope these two keep that spark they clearly have and continue to decide to love one another for many many years to come.

Greg and I drove up to Columbus in mid December to capture the love of Jessica and Greg! As soon as I arrived, I was surprised to see another one of my brides, Maddie, doing hair and makeup. I always love getting to revisit my couples afterwords and on a day just as magical and important for one of their friends. So I suppose I should definitely thank her for leading Jessica to me! Jessica had a special request: that I interview as many people in her bridal party as I could. I sat each one of them down individually in between the big moments of the morning and before the "I do's" to ask them what makes Jessica and Greg so freakin perfect for one another. Abby and Ian invited me out for coffee in late October to ask me to capture their SURPRISE WEDDING! This was quite the secret I had to keep, since Abby is now my sister-in-law's sister-in-law. Such close connections meant I could tell no one! They invited their guests out for a "house-warming" party with a "big announcement." So, naturally, most assumed to hear about a pregnancy. Close family and friends arrived to a beautifully decorated warehouse location with live string interments playing to create a very romantic ambiance. Surprise! Congrats to the new Mr. + Mrs. Day!

I've known Brett since college. He's always been this nice, fun, sports-loving kid. We were in the same fraternity, so we weren't really around each other for events as serious as weddings. I knew going in the reception would be fun, but I was curious about the mood before. I got up to Sylvania Country Club the day before to fly the drone, but promptly landed it in a tree. So my trip started off with some anxiety and fear that my favorite toy was broken. However, the day of the wedding was the opposite. It was calm and peaceful. Everything seemed to be on time and everyone was genuinely happy to be there. Alyssa looked beautiful and seemed to truly enjoy the day as it went. It was great to film my old friend getting married. I am very happy I got to be a part of it. Also, the bubble send off in slow-mo was the highlight of my day. I reviewed the shot on my camera right away and had zero clue bubbles were so cool.

What a beautiful day to celebrate a beautiful couple in a beautiful venue. Did I say beautiful enough? I, unfortunately, was unable to film this one; but I sent over my A-Team, Nick and Susan, to Indianapolis for just a few hours with this sweet couple. Allison is as pleasant as they come! You can tell she's the happiest when she's with her now hubby, Matthew. And Matthew clearly knows what the cute kiddo at the end of the video summed up best, "happy wife, happy life." Whatever makes her happy, makes him happy. And what made her happy was a sleek, black and white, classic aesthetic that all came together beautifully thanks to the following vendors.

I actually grew up with the bride's family and I cannot believe little Sydney is all grown up and married! She did such a great job picking a groom, though. I was so excited when Lynndsey reached out and said she'd like me to capture her beach wedding in North Carolina! We went to high school together and played soccer freshman year, so it was great to see this beautiful lady again. I got to the beach house with Greg, and Lynndsey was smiling ear to ear. It was quite literally an impossible task to get a shot of her not smiling the entire day! And as you watch the video, you can see why. James is perfect for her and they make each other extremely happy. Which makes me happy for her and lucky to have been the one to film one of the happiest days of their life together.
