Amanda + Ethan

Jayme BasilComment

Amanda came down from Cleveland for some wedding planning one weekend and wanted to meet up for coffee. I got to meet this beauty at Coffee Emporium and she walked up in a bomb looking jumpsuit, long straight hair, and very chill vibes. I knew instantly we would agree on the general tone and aesthetic we’d go for while filming her big day. I finally got to meet Ethan (other than for a second at another wedding) at the Monastery on their wedding day! Instantly, I could just feel all the love between the two of them. I mean, come on, look at the way Ethan looks at Amanda at ANY.GIVEN.MOMENT. We even caught some tears between the frist-look and ceremony where Ethan is taking it all in; this is his bride, the woman with whom he gets to spend the rest of his life, and he couldn’t be more sure about this decision. It’s written all over his face. And, clearly, Amanda couldn’t be happier, as there was never not a smile on her face. Even though they may be a house divided when it comes to athletic teams, they will definitely enjoy their forevers together. Congrats to the newlyweds!

Felicia + Max

Jayme BasilComment

Yay! My bestie’s baby sister got married and I got to capture it all! Felicia is seriously one of the kindest people you can ever meet. She greets everyone with the warmest smile and lets me play with the critters she takes care of at the zoo. These critters actually got to attend and get pets at the wedding, which was conveniently at the Cincinnati Nature Center. Max and Felicia met when they were just hatchlings themselves at taekwondo. Their families got to watch them grow up together, and now their love is clearly black-belt strong. Max could not stop kissing on his new bride from the moment he laid eyes on her at their first look. It’s just the freakin’ cutest and I am so happy for these two. Cheers!

Scott + Joseph

Jayme BasilComment

You get worried sometimes as an artist that you may some day get pigeon-holed; that people see a pattern in your work and assume you can’t branch out beyond that. You get worried potential clients can’t see themselves in or relate to the work you’ve posted, even though we love all love in any shape or size. And we, at Sweet Basil, admit we do get a fair amount of blonde beauties with their tall-dark-and-handsomes (so not complaining).

Never having captured an LGBTQ+ love story and never having captured a Jewish ceremony, Scott and Joey took a chance on us and believed we could do their story justice. I will forever be grateful to them for this. And, man, what a perfect introduction. Everything was so intentional and beautiful. The ampersand in their custom signage incorporates I-71 (the highway they spent so much time on every weekend in order to make their long-distance work for them). They had their names embroidered in their suit jackets. They wrote the most meaningful vows that left not a dry eye in the house. I wish nothing but the absolute best for these two in their forever together!

Meghan + Jace

Jayme BasilComment

When swiping leads to walking down the aisle! Meghan and Jace met while at The Ohio State University around four years ago and it’s been such a cute journey for them. Well, it’s at the very least cute to me because Jace used their pup in his proposal to Meghan, and you know I’m a sucker for dogs. They instantly and seamlessly meshed into one another’s lives; just that kindred spirit type of love that seems so easy. They promised their forevers to each other in the same church Meghan’s parents wed twenty-something years ago and continued the celebration at Cooper Creek. I hope only for the best in the new Mr + Mrs Ball’s future with their tiny furry baby. Cheers!

Ally + Kevin

Jayme BasilComment

As we stood in line at Graeters in our wedding attire, Ally and Kevin quickly became one of our favorite couples. Who surprises their future hubby with ice cream at the first look? Well, since food is a big part of their love language, Ally had to bring it and Kevin talked about it in his vows. Speaking of their vows, my god! Even their officiant was wowed and had to pause and mention those were the most meaningful vows he has ever heard in all the weddings he has performed! And can we talk about how well Ally twirls? I’d like to talk about it because, well, once we found out she was a pro, we had her twirl pretty much everywhere we went. If saving lives as a doctors doesn’t work out for these two, they always have twirling. Okay, I’m gonna go ahead and stop gushing and just have you witness their love for yourself. Congrats to the newlyweds!

Taylor + Ryan

Jayme BasilComment

Our first wedding of 2019! Greg and I were so excited to get to spend the day with Taylor and Ryan, high school sweet hearts. They got married at Top of the Market in Dayton, OH, and it was a beautiful ceremony surrounded by all of their loved ones. Family is very important to Taylor and Ryan, who included their siblings and parents in their bridal party. But what’s even more important and potent is their love for one another. You can tell that Taylor is Ryan’s safe space and home, as is Ryan for Taylor. They’ve been there for one another since high school homecoming, and will be there for each other from here on out. They are soulmates and their assuredness throughout the day made me sure of it as well. Happily ever after to the new Mr & Mrs Adams!

Jenna + Brendan

Jayme BasilComment

We’ve filmed quite a few weddings at this point. And in doing so, we’ve heard many a speech. Sure, some aren’t great, some are really funny, and some make us tear up. But we know not to get our hopes up for all the speeches to be perfect. That’s just a silly high expectation. An expectation that Jenna and Brendan’s loved ones exceeded! Everyone who spoke of the newlyweds had only the best things to say and gave us all a look into Jenna and Brendan’s full love story. Because of this, I wanted the music to be subtle and not distract from their story. It really shouldn’t have been a surprise, though, that the speeches were great. All throughout the day, I saw more support and positivity than Chris Traeger (of Parks & Rec) himself could generate. It was amazing and truly a testament to the newlyweds and the type of people they attract in their lives. Jenna and Brendan are the sweetest couple who light up in one another’s presence. Who am I kidding, just watch the cinematic and you’ll see! Here’s to my post patient couple of all-time, Mr + Mrs Bilski! And here’s who helped to make their wedding day so beautiful:

Cat + Zach

Jayme BasilComment

When we got the news that our friends Cat and Zach were getting married and wanted us to film their wedding in Cancun[!], we simply could not turn it down! They and their bridal party have become fast friends for us at Sweet Basil, and it has been such a blast and blessing getting to know them. It certainly helps that they are the type of couple who, if you decide to go out, they are likely already out having fun. These two are absolutely perfect together, and I believe (as do most) that Cat’s beloved late sister, Liz, brought them together. It’s that kind of serendipitous, missing puzzle piece, perfect fit, positive vibes kind of love that simply can’t be explained in any other way. And what a gorgeous place to make it official! This resort in Cancun was as close to perfect as you can get, aesthetically and otherwise, and we all think it’s time to go back. Congrats to the newlyweds! Thanks for including us!

Maggie + Jordan

Jayme BasilComment

Don’t you just love those love stories that have a history? Those “just friends” that turn into “best friends” that turn into “I cannot imagine my life without you.” That’s the kind of love story Maggie and Jordan share, and I simply can’t get over it. Nine+ years of being there for one another and countless more to go. You can tell through their letters to one another that they both feel so incredibly lucky to be with the other; that they are both marrying their best friend, their better half. They made it official and committed their life and love to and for another and with God in a Baptist church, then continued the celebration at the beautiful Round Barn Stable of Memories. The constant smiles say it all!

Christine + Blaise

Jayme BasilComment

I have wanted to film at this gorgeous venue for so long, and to get the opportunity to spend the day there with such a fun-loving group of people, it’s simply the best! Christine and Blaise live in Los Angeles, but came back to the bride’s hometown to tie the knot, surrounded by family and friends from all over the world; every one of whom knows how to party. These two though, they have this wildly beautiful balance betwixt them, in a way that they are balanced and multidimensional as individuals, and still their union creates this wholeness I hope everyone can find in their partner. They got wed by their “official third wheel,” Christine’s business partner and bestie, Em. Christine and Em have a podcast together that’s title is toasted by Blaise in the last lines of the cinematic: “And That’s Why We Drink.” It was a popular sentiment on this day of celebration. Cheers!

Jessica + Brent

Jayme BasilComment

Sometimes love is best expressed through constant giggles and smiles. That’s the vibe I got from Jessica and Brent. This cinematic not only lets you see their “best day ever,” but what I believe they are like pretty much all the time. Cracking jokes during otherwise intimate and sappy moments, saying “I love you” more times than you can count, and simply having fun. We had a great time with them during their big day and were looking forward to it since we had met them in January at the matron of honor’s wedding (Hannah + Abram). Jessica added a special dance at the reception to honor her late beloved brother, wherein she rotated through her brother’s best friends. It was one of the most meaningful and beautiful ways I’ve seen to commemorate a lost loved one. Many smiles and much laughter are ahead for these newlyweds, I’m sure of it.

Gabrielle + Tyler

Jayme BasilComment

I just love it when we get the time to connect with the wedding party as well as the bride and the groom, and that’s what happened when we filmed Sydney + Callen in 2017. Gabrielle was a bridesmaid of Sydney’s and quite the ray of sunshine throughout the day. She then hired us to film her big day; the day she got to marry the love of her life. Only positive vibes for and from Tyler and Gabrielle. They’re a beautiful and sweet couple who has already been through so much together. You can tell those who love them are truly so happy for these two. Fireworks were a surprise at the reception from Tyler’s father, but can also describe that glint in Gabrielle’s and Tyler’s eyes when they look at one another! All the feels! Ali + Michael

Jayme BasilComment

Sure, it was raining all day and that forced Ali and Michael to move their garden ceremony under the pavilion, but it resulted in an absolutely GORGEOUS day all around. Umbrella photoshoots for an excuse to keep one another close, the most stunning sunset I have seen in quite awhile, a freakin’ rainbow, and dancing in the rain! Ali and Michael were game for it all and I couldn’t have been more excited to capture it. Oh, not to mention they wrote their own vows! I love love love it when couples take the time to do this for themselves. Ali and Michael in particular have known one another for longer than most, meeting sometime in the fifth grade. After their lives took them in different directions, they always ended up back together. And on their wedding day they got to say exactly why they simply couldn’t stay away, even ending their vows coincidentally with the same exact line from one of their favorite songs!

Dana + Shawn

Jayme Basil2 Comments

Dana’s dad mentioned in his speech (not seen) how once you become friends with his daughter, you are friends for life. That was incredibly evident in all the family and friends witnessing the nuptials that day; but also, I am honored to say I’ve known the bride since we were in grade school! Once she had a date and venue picked out, she promptly came to me to make sure I could capture her big day. I was stoked then, but after getting to know the groom and how happy they make one another, I am even more ecstatic for my old friend. Congratulations to Dana and Shawn for finding that kind of love that’s built to last. I hope you don’t mind, but I snuck a little surprise in at the end.

Tara + Tim

Jayme BasilComment

While creating the cinematic for Tim and Tara, I first was looking for the perfect music to accompany their love story. I came across this song with the title, “Father’s Land.” PERFECT! There could not be a better song with a better title for this couple. The reason they got married in Hilton Head was because being there allows Tara to feel closer to her father, who unfortunately passed a few years back. And even though he couldn’t be there in the flesh on the day of, you can tell he is strongly there in spirit and would whole-heartily approve of the marriage that took place on this absolutely beautiful day. Tim and Tara are perfect together. No question. Just watch and see why.

These two. My goodness. One of the sweetest couples I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with! They even donated to my non-profit, Fureverhome, in lieu of party favors! I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am for that gesture. You can tell just by watching their cinematic how kind they are. It’s in their smiles. It’s in the way they look at each other. I think Madi’s maid of honor put it best in her speech: Madison is a real life Disney princess and she has finally found her forever prince. Jayme BasilComment

Falling in love with their childhood sweethearts just seems to be how the Rineharts roll. I got to film Alex’s sister’s wedding a few years back and could not have been more excited to capture Alex and Rie’s love story. They were both in my younger brother’s class at St. Ursula Villa and it’s so incredible to see them so in love today. While they did meet and have their first kiss together in grade school, they split ways during high school and most of college. Until finally, as fate would have it, they ran into each other while attending OSU. Alex knew he had to ask Annamarie out again and on their first date as adults, Alex just knew: “not only were you my first kiss, but you were going to be my last.” The new Mr. and Mrs. Rinehart exchanged vows at Rhinegeist Brewery in OTR, Cincinnati. Do you believe in love at first swipe? Well, that's what happened when Kimmy met Chris! They matched on Tinder and within an hour decided to meet in person on a date. Both of them realized after just this first date that they were meant to wed and spend eternity together. Honestly, they tell the story way better in their personal vows spoken during the ceremony and sprinkled throughout their wedding cinematic. Chris is a pilot, which inspired their travel theme across the decor at the ceremony and reception. Everything went wonderfully and was visually and emotionally beautiful. Maria and Adam had quite the celebration at the lovely Monastery Event Center! The wedding was in Mt Adams, so it was the perfect opportunity to get "Maria and Adam" customized in the Mt. Adams look, which is featured in this cinematic. You can really tell that these two are meant for each other, as they like all the same things, are both in the Military (Maria is in the Air Force and Adam is in the Marines), and both show their love in very similar ways.
